Goodyear has had explosive growth in the past five years. The population has increased 132%, or 25030. There are currently 43,941 residents of Goodyear. Goodyear has a strong employment base with Lockheed Martin, the Lufthansa Training Center, Del Monte, Rubbermaid and Poore Brothers. Goodyear is 8 miles wide and 22 miles long. It starts one mile south of Luke Air Force Base and goes south past Estrella Mountain Ranch.
Goodyear Real Estate
The average resale price for a home in Goodyear was $280,500 and new home was $325,225 as of the end of the first quarter 2006. Since 2004 the average resale home price has risen $115,500 or 70%. The average new home price has risen $158,880 or 95%. Goodyear has seen substantial housing growth with new master planned communities such as Estrella Mountain Ranch, Palm Valley and Pebble Creek.
Goodyear History
Goodyear started as a farming community growing cotton by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Later a subsidiary of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company started Goodyear aircraft, making Seaplanes for the Navy. The town of Goodyear was incorporated in 1946. Interestingly enough Goodyear aircraft later became known as Lockheed Martin.
