Avondale has increased its population 86% or 30,823 from 2000 to 2005. 2005 estimates show a population of 66,706. Avondale has trying to keep pace with its rapid growth. Avondale offers Friendship Park a recently completed sports complex that hosts football, baseball and softball. It has a new government center complex and has recreational opportunities with its annual Billy Moore Days and Nascar races at the Phoenix International Raceway. Another scenic attraction is the Estrella Mountain Regional Park.
Avondale Real Estate
The average resale price for a home in Avondale was $258,750 and new home was $277,500 as of the end of the first quarter 2006. Since 2004 the average resale home price has risen $113,750 or 78%. The average new home price has risen $126,205 or 83%. In a 2005 report from Arizona Department of Commerce they announced that there was 12000 housing units in either a planning or construction phase in Avondale. 
Avondale History
Avondale was founded by William “Billy” G. Moore who arrived in Arizona in the 1860s. Billy Moore began a settlement called “Coldwater Arizona”. The settlements post office was relocated to nearby Avondale Ranch and Coldwater lost its name. The City of Avondale was incorporated in December 1946.
